Week 7: Inspiring Ideas for Teachers, iTunes U courses

This collection is made up of 30 books, each one a layout of how to use lessons created by ADE, Apple Distinguished Educators. These lessons are very creative and innovative. I especially liked the ones that were to do with STEM, in particular, Making Thinking Visible.

There are 30 ibooks in this collection.

A couple of other books that stood out to me from this collection were Weaving Your Web with Charlotte’s Web and ESL Book Reports.

To find this collection on your iPad, go to the iTunesU app, click on “for educators” and then click “see more” option for “Inspiring Lesson Ideas”.

Making Thinking Visible

Description: This course will support our learning and understanding of the principles surrounding the work of Ron Ritchhart and the development of a culture of thinking.  Please use materials to support our summer book study clubs or individual work!

This ibook is very informative on the topic of making thinking visible in your classroom. First off, it gives you an overview and tutorial on beginning documentation for learning. Then, it goes into the lessons you would give on opening the kids up and telling their stories. Formative assessment is also a part of this concept and there is a whole section on it. There are different sections for using this method in Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, Art, and Music.
